Terraco EIFS Perma

Terraco’s EIFS Perma System uses mineral wool (MW) as the insulation material and is recommended when a higher fire rating is required.

Mineral Wool is popular in cold and damp climates, where enhanced breathability is required – something to consider when insulating structures or old buildings which have high levels of moisture.

The Perma System uses only highly vapour permeable (breathable) decorative renders such as Terracoat Sil or Terol to finish the system. The benefit to the architect and customer is that Terracoat Sil and Terol are available in a wide range of colours and textures which provides them with technically advanced solutions and a high level of durability.

* SPECIAL MENTION *

Terraco UAE has received Dubai Civil Defence approval for the Terraco EIFS – Perma System, making it the first company in the UAE to receive DCD approval for an Exterior Insulation and Finishing System (EIFS) under the updated UAE fire safety code. Terraco EIFS – Perma, which is tested and certified to NFPA 285, NFPA 268, and ASTM E84 Class A, meets all current DCD requirements. Terraco EIFS is also Abu Dhabi and Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence approved.

INSULATION MATERIAL

To determine the thickness of the insulation material required in your Terraco EIFS System you need to determine the Thermal Resistance (R) value required to achieve the required U-Value. The lower the U-Value, the better insulation and performance you get from the system.

Terraco EIFS uses insulation materials with low thermal conductivity (λ) to get low U-values and reduce thermal bridging.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS

This EIFS System consists of what is referred to as system components, with the MW being fixed to the substrate using a combination of adhesives, mechanical fasteners, reinforced with a basecoat and glass fibre mesh, and finished with a decorative wall coating.

The Terraco Perma System consists of the following system components:

PERMA SYSTEM
Product Name Description

Standard Components

Terraco Styrofix An adhesive used to fix the MW to the substrate.
MW Insulation Board The insulation material thickness is determined by the thermal performance required.
Mechanical Fasteners Steel fasteners with steel pin dowels are used to fix the MW to the substrate, which also assists with wind shear at higher levels.
System Profiles A range of accessories required for strengthening and finishing the system – for finishing around window and door openings, and window sills.
Terraco Styrobond DP The basecoat that is reinforced with a layer of EIFS Glass Fibre Mesh.
Terraco Terramesh A reinforcing EIFS Glass Fibre Mesh.
Primer A basecoat substrate penetrating primer – Terraco Silprime.
Decorative Finish A high performance, breathable, decorative wall coating which is sometimes finished with a clear or pigmented top coat.

INSTALLATION

The installation of Terraco EIFS needs to be done by an Approved Terraco EIFS Applicator to ensure the validity of the Terraco International EIFS Guarantee. The installation process is fundamental to achieving the best possible results from Terraco EIFS, and failure to follow these requirements could lead to problems with the system or ultimately failure of the system itself.
